Opportunities to Help Those Impacted by Hurricane Florence

As a follow up to the opportunity to serve that was shared in the Sunday School hour last week, we wanted to share some resources to allow us to see what our supported mission of Mission to North America (MNA) through the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) is doing to help those impacted by Hurricane Florence.  The most up to date information is available on the website at

Day Trips

Through the MNA Disaster Response Team, our sister church, The Watershed, is making a day trip to the Mullins area this Saturday, October 6th.  They are scheduled to leave Lexington at 7:00 am and return by 5:00 pm.  If you are interested in participating, please go to the MNA Disaster Response website ( and fill out the necessary paperwork to allow us to comply with the MNA/PCA insurance and legal requirements.  If this weekend won’t work, we are hoping to schedule more trips in the future, so please let Steven Jackson know if you are interested in future opportunities.

Flood Buckets

Another item that was discussed on Sunday was the need for “Flood Buckets”. The buckets have specific materials that the team has found most useful for folks impacted by flood conditions.  They are using up the buckets they have on hand and need buckets to replace them and to be able to continue to share them.  This could be an opportunity for those unable to participate in the work days to tangibly support those efforts.  It could be an opportunity for families to involve children in the purchasing and assembling of the materials. Would you consider assembling one or more buckets?  The instructions for assembling the buckets can be found on this website link:

We will be collecting the buckets in Tomlin Hall until Sunday, October 14th.

Please contact the church at for more information about these opportunities.

Thank you very much for your support.
