 Christ’s flock of LPC,

The last minute shopping for Christmas is over, the gifts have been opened, some have been returned, and many are now looking forward to the new year with new hopes, new promises, new desires.I have many desires for 2010: in January we will begin a month and a half long series on our vision. We’ll look at questions like “what does it mean to be a community?” “What does it mean to ‘labor to see God’s kingdom grow’?” I long for God to add daily to LPC the number of those who are being saved, of those who are enjoying genuine community. In order for that to be the case, every single one of us needs to know what we believe God’s vision for LPC to be, and how every single one of us fits into that picture.

In March we’ll begin going through the gospel of Mark. In my own preparation for the series I’ve been tremendously challenged. Just as a new year is coming for us that is full of new surprises, so Mark’s gospel is full of things that were new to those living in Palestine. A man named Jesus was healing people, fellowshipping with the poor and pursuing the outcast, forgiving sins and lavishing love. How I long for Jesus to visit LPC in the same way!

Blessings to you all and to your families as we enter this new year. May God bring His richest blessings to us as we humbly seek His will in the New Year!!
Happy New Year!
